Variable Pay in the Public Sector

Results in this report show that fewer respondents are using variable pay in 2012 than in 2007. The most common form of variable remains pay for performance. IPMA-HR members are doing more with less. Included in the report are four case studies including: managing pay compression, developing a compensation philosophy, an example of a compensation philosophy and a spot awards program.
