On January 6th, Senator Collins (R-ME) introduced the Forty Hours is Full Time Act of 2015 (S. 30). Representative Young (R-IN-09) introduced the House companion bill, the Save American Workers Act of 2015 (H.R. 30). The legislation changes the definition of “full time employee” in the Internal Revenue Code to an employee who works on average forty hours per week. The legislation impacts employer requirements under the ACA, which requires employers to provide essential health coverage to full time employees. The House passed H.R. 30 on January 8th. IPMA-HR supports this legislation.
