DOL Submits Proposed Overtime Regulations to OMB

Tags:  (2015 May 5th - 3:19pm)

Today, the Department of Labor (DOL) submitted to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) its proposed regulations to update the regulations governing overtime exemptions. Following OMB approval, the DOL will publish the proposed regulations for public notice and comment. In March 2014, President Obama asked DOL to modernize the regulations in order to expand the number of employees who are eligible for overtime pay. To achieve that goal, the proposed regulations are expected to modify the exemptions for executive, professional, and administrative employees, increase the salary basis test, and revise the duties test.
