The Senior Human Resources Manager is a new position responsible for advancing strategic initiatives, leading the Metropolitan Council's occupational health function, and developing workforce analytics. Reports to the HR director and serves as a member of the Leadership Team to provide direction for the HR functions. Supervises one department manager and one business analyst.

Job Requirements (Optional): 

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organization Development, Public or Business Administration, Employment Law or related AND seven years of experience in project management, human resources or leadership which includes three years of experience managing employees.

Equivalencies:
Associate's degree in Human Resources, Organization Development, Public or Business Administration, Employment Law or related AND nine years of experience in project management, human resources or leadership which includes three years of experience managing employees.
OR
Eleven years of experience in project management, human resources or leadership which includes three years of experience managing employees.

Desired Qualifications:
The ideal candidate has management experience in a public sector work environment and is familiar with public sector human resources practices including family or medical-related leaves. A successful Senior Manager readily develops trusting relationships and will be able to demonstrate strong collaboration and communication skills with team members, customers and stakeholders. The Senior Manager is adept at applying process improvement, project management and data analysis methodologies to assigned projects and tasks. In addition, experience applying employee engagement and diversity/inclusion best practices will be important. PHR or SPHR certification is desirable.
