IPMA-HR is pleased to announce that Jackie Wehmeyer, IPMA-SCP, will begin serving as the 46th elected leader of the Association when she assumes the office of president on January 1, 2018. As president, Wehmeyer will focus growing membership at all levels, ensuring IPMA-HR continues to provide value to its members, and strengthening opportunities for members to learn, connect and communicate.

IPMA-HR has endorsed the “Overtime Reform and Enhancement Act” (H.R. 5813) that was introduced by Representative Kurt Schrader (D-OR). The bill would phase-in over three-years, the increase in the salary basis threshold that was included in the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) regulations that were issued recently by the Department of Labor.

Throughout the country, mayors, governors, agency leaders, communities and public service organizations participate in PSRW by issuing proclamations; hosting award ceremonies and special tribute events; and delivering messages about the value of public service. We encourage all IPMA-HR members to participate by showing appreciation to your employees and colleagues and by sharing stories of excellence in public service.

🏠 URGENT UPDATE: Public Sector Groups Meet with OMB

IPMA-HR joined with the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), the National Association of Counties (NACo), and the National League of Cities (NLC) at a meeting with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to express public sector concerns with the proposed Fair Labor Standards Act overtime regulations. The Department of Labor has sent the regulations to OMB for its review.

http://ipma-hr.org/resources/benchmarking/final-benchmark-report-executive-summary-2The International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR)  releases its 2015 Benchmarking Survey Results report called “How Close is Human Resources to Becoming a Strategic Business Partner?” A critical finding from the report showed that eight out of 10 HR practitioners consider their human resources departments to be strategic business partners, defined as a partner who shares physical and intellectual resources to help solve problems and make decisions for other departments and organization-wide.

🏠 IPMA-HR and IMLA Submit Comments on the Department of Labor's Proposed Rulemaking on Overtime Pay

On September 3, the International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR) and the International Municipal Lawyers Association (IMLA) submitted a second round of comments on the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking issued on July 6, 2015 by the U.S. Department of Labor to amend the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) regulations implementing the exemption from minimum wage and overtime pay for executive, administrative, professional, outside sales, and computer employees.
