The IPMA-HR Certified Professional (IPMA-CP) is a public sector focused credential for qualified HR professionals in an entry- or mid-level career position. It is a designation that symbolizes excellence as an HR expert. Since IPMA-HR started offering the certification in 2000, nearly 12,000 HR professionals worldwide have enhanced their careers with an IPMA-CP designation.

The IPMA-CP is a unique designation for human resource professionals that adds value to your career. With an IPMA-CP, you will stand out amongst your peers, demonstrating your personal commitment to the profession and competence in public sector human resources.

Who is Eligible?

All public sector HR professionals in an entry- or mid-level position are eligible for this certification; there are no prerequisites

Once you have completed the Public Sector HR Essentials Program­ — offered online three times a year in winter (January-May), spring (April-August) and fall (August-December) — and pass the new CP Exam, you are automatically certified. No application is required for this certification.

IPMA-HR will automatically send you your certification credentials, along with your recertification information. Included in this packet will also be a form which provides you with the opportunity to have your supervisor and other leaders in your organization notified of your accomplishment.

Recertification is required every three years for a nominal fee.
